PEANUT BUTTER FINGERS - Syl’s Famous Bars
Sylvia Hammersland Belschner brought these to each annual family picnic. One year she brought something else, thinking we must be tired of the same bars. So many of us voiced our disappointment that they became her signature potluck item.
1 c. butter or margarine
1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
2 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
2 c. oatmeal
--------
1 c. chocolate chips
--------
1 c. powdered sugar
1/2 c. creamy peanut butter
Milk
Cream the first 3 ingredients. Add eggs. Add flour, soda and oatmeal. Mix well; batter will be very thick. Spread on greased cookie sheet to within one inch of the edge (it will spread to edges as it bakes). Bake 20 minutes or so at 350 degrees until done. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot bars; let melt and spread with a knife. Mix powdered sugar, peanut butter and milk until desired consistency for drizzling over chocolate. ENJOY!!
